Playing whit the suggestion of fantastic atmospheres Luigi Petracchi presents us his compositions in which the epic theme is always present. Horsemen crossing the space towards points of brilliant light, as if they were conquerors of it, navigators in the immensity of the universe, chevaliers fighting in terrible and struggling battles not fighted in earth but in the cosmic space. Everything giving the sensation as if all of them were floating in the space. All in PETRACCHI’s work is movement and we realize that he arrives to make us feel all his intimate sensation that everything is movement. And he does it through the mastery with which he designs and the very special technique he uses to get his purpose. He uses preferently oil and tempera in black and white and puts them on the canvas with strokes of very large breath giving, in that way the sensation of the unreal and the dramatic force his works have. Even if the subjects of his compositions belong to real life he uses them to create fantastic worlds in which the human being or may be the horse, or the young man or even the old one do not make part of real life buy enter all of them in the kingdom of fantasy or if we want they are all used to send us an epic an intellectual message. “THE WALL”; “MESSANGER” are examples of what we are saying. A very original artist who goes out from the easy way of making art entering in a world made of meanings and in which he intents discharge his thoughts, his fears or may be his poetical way of seeing life. Using these emblematic signs in which he puts all the spirit of a real artist owner of a fervent and really creative mind. Very qualified to propose the observer material to think about. An artist, Luigi PETRACCHI very well chosen to represent Italian contemporary art in this interesting exhibition. Very interesting his works that offer the observer a great quantity of themes so any one can constructs his own ideas or representations.
